Exploration of how adaptive maternal environmental effects might promote invasion of an invasive plant.

Brooke Baythavong, a graduate student at UC Davis is going to Spain to collect seed and environmental data on Erodium cicutarium, and an annual plant that has invaded serpentine soils in California.  She will conduct common garden experiments to explore the possibility that trans-generational plasticity influences the ability of this species to invade its unusual habitat. Her collaborator is Dr. Fernando Valldares.
